Cod damn. March was a busy month for Ultimate and Ultimate coverage. With big name events like Women’s Centex and the Stanford Invite, college teams from across the country were challenged and tested for the upcoming USAU series which begins next weekend.
Featuring the majority of top college Open teams, Easterns 2011 proved itself to be the premier event of the Open college season. When TD Greg Vassar reached out to Skyd about covering the event, we quickly saw Easterns as an excellent opportunity to experiment with what we could provide. Working together with Jonathan Neeley of Inside Breaks, Bryan Jones of No Look Scoober, Greg Vassar and tournament photographer Holly Czuba, Skyd was pleased to be able to present some unprecedented coverage of the tournament over at Easterns.org. This coverage included tournament histories, a SkydCast preview, several player and team profiles leading up to the main event, minute by minute updates, daily photo highlights and more. 2011 Easterns will stand as not only a fantastic event with top competition, but as one of the best covered events outside of the Championships.
Thanks to opportunities like this, Skyd coverage will continue to grow in its quality and expand in its reach. If you’re interested in having Skyd cover your event, please email us at coverage@skydmagazine.com.
