In an epic match-up the US women would take on Canada in their second meeting. In the first, the US dominated Canada with their athletic D line who was able to convert turns quickly and efficiently and an O line that could not get broken. The US had done their homework with the match-up needed for Canada’s explosive Malissa Lundgren #55 who was the women’s division overall scoreboard leader (most assists and scores) at the time. In the finals, Malissa simply could not be contained and her supporting cast of players also stepped up their game and played tremendous team defense that made the US O line struggle where they once had not.
