This week in the AUDL Eastern Conference we have a potential Conference Finals preview with the New York Empire traveling to Toronto to play the Rush. Unfortunately the Rush will be without several of their Team Canada players, who are in Seattle for Potlach. On Saturday the Rochester Dragons will be looking to close out their season on a high note, hoping to get a win over the Empire in front of their hometown crowd.
The Midwestern Conference is where the main action will be this weekend. The Minnesota Wind Chill are one game away from elimination, and need to win out to make it to the playoffs. It’s a tall order for a team on a two game road trip in Chicago and Indianapolis this weekend, made even taller by their limited roster. With Twin Cities based Mixed Club team Drag’n Thrust playing at the US Open, the Wind Chill will be without their entire Drag’n Thrust contingent. Players like James Hron, Austin Lien, and Brian Schoenrock all play big roles for Minnesota, and it’s difficult to imagine the Wind Chill winning without any of them. Once again the Wildfire will be playing without Brodie Smith, but they’ll be looking to finish the season with a couple wins to guarantee the top seed in the conference, which would clinch an appearance in the Conference Finals for Windy City. On Sunday the Wind Chill play the AlleyCats in Indianapolis, and after losing to the ‘Cats 21-29 on June 22 in St. Paul, an upset win in Indianapolis is highly unlikely .
