Skyd is proud to present our new award for the 2012 Club Season, Starting 7 Presented by SAVAGE Ultimate. Starting 7 honors the top 7 players in each division for their skill, leadership and overall play up through regionals. Recipients will receive an award jersey provided by SAVAGE Ultimate. Congratulations to the following players who have been named our Starting 7 in the Open Division.
- Beau Kittredge (Revolver) has the raw speed and athleticism to make him one of the most, if not the most effective player in the game. His intelligence is an underrated factor, helping Revolver stay patient when given the under and punish teams when the defense doesn’t block the deep option. He may be most dangerous near the end zone where he’s a dump pass away from toasting his defender up the line.
- Seth Wiggins (Rhino) is one of the best all around players in the game, whether it means defending the other teams best, or coming up with creative ways to move his team down the field. He’s not afraid to throw the scoober, huck for the score, or get every other throw to dominate any given possession.
- Robbie Cahill (Revolver) is the best field general in the game. His decision making and intelligence allows Revolver to run smoothly, and his versatility keeps teams on their toes. He has a knack for knowing when the defense isn’t expecting him to roam deep, and his signature backhand delivers passes on the mark consistently.
- Josh “Richter” Ackley (Johnny Bravo) has the high release backhand down to a science, and is the driving force behind Johnny Bravo’s stellar regular season. He’s incredibly effective as a handler due to the number of release points he’s mastered, and his fire, focus, never say die attitude has inspired his team to victory.
- George Stubbs (Ironside) is another one of the best all around players in the game. Every defense knows he wants the under, and no defense has found away to deny him of it. It doesn’t get much better than his flick huck, but his scoober is any break cutter’s dream.
- Colin Mahoney (Ironside) We give some love to the defenders with this pick. Standing at 6’6” Mahoney is one of the tallest players in the game, but still has the speed to keep up with cutters who want the under. He’s gone toe to toe with Kittredge over the years and has often times come out on top.
- Joe “BJ” Sefton (Sockeye) is our up and comer pick for this year’s starting 7. Sefton has made highlight reel plays throughout the season, layout blocks and catches in huge moments. He’s a tremendous athlete who feels right at home with Sockeye’s schemes, whether it be on the defensive or offensive side.
Those with injuries during the regular season were not considered due to lack of performance or playtime.
