AUDL Preview & Inactive List: Week 12

by | June 28, 2013, 12:48pm 0

This week the main action in the AUDL is in the Eastern Conference. The Rochester Dragons are 6-7, just one game behind the Philadelphia Phoenix. Both have games on Saturday and Sunday, and this weekend could make or break either’s playoff hopes. The Dragons are playing in Toronto on Saturday then host the Rush on Sunday. The Dragons  have to get a split to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Phoenix play in DC against the Breeze on Saturday, then host the New Jersey Hammerheads on Sunday. A 2-0 weekend would essentially clinch a playoff spot for Philadelphia, but it won’t come easy. The Phoenix have played some close games against DC this season, and Saturday will most likely be close again. In the other Eastern Conference game this week the Empire host the Hammerheads on Saturday, and will be looking to make up for their loss to them last week.

In the Midwest the game to watch is happening Saturday in Chicago. The Wildfire host the Radicals for the second time this season, and each game between these two teams has been a close one. Madison will be without some of their top cutters in David Schleicher and Tyler Glenn, while Brodie Smith is still inactive for the Wildfire. Though it’s highly unlikely Madison can surpass Chicago in the standings, both teams will be looking to make a statement leading up to what most presume will be the Midwestern Conference Finals match. The Indianapolis AlleyCats haven’t technically clinched the playoffs yet, though their magic number is only 2. That means they only need a combination of two wins or Minnesota losses to clinch. Though the Revolution are ahead of the Wind Chill in the standings, they have already lost their season series to Indianapolis. That means Cincinnati would have to win every remaining game while Indianapolis would have to lose every game for the Revolution to make the playoffs. With Cincinnati’s upcoming trip to St. Paul, where they last played and lost 9-26, that’s looking very unlikely. The AlleyCats could speed things up with a victory over the Detroit Mechanix on Saturday, who will be missing some of their main rotation players.
