The Aussies Are Coming: Sporting Team Box
by | June 17, 2014, 9:55am 0
In a little over a month, Australia will be sending 10 teams – 3 men’s, 2 women’s, 3 mixed, and one in each masters category – to WUCC2014 in Lecco, Italy.
Some of these teams formed in 2013 with the aim of assembling a star-studded lineup to take overseas, while others are long-standing clubs with a rich history and no shortage of international experience. All of them will be packing their Aussie charm and irreverent sense of humor as they head for the fields near Lake Como.
Find out a little more about some of these clubs, starting with 2014 Australian Ultimate Champions STBAU (Sporting Team Box Athletico United) from Melbourne. Boasting 4 previous World Games players and an 8-year history of domination in Australian ultimate, STBAU promises will be a force to be reckoned with on-field, and highly entertaining off it. Game of Naked/Eagle/Rat, anyone?
Stay tuned for profiles of Phat Chilly (men’s masters), Batmania and Hippo (mixed), and Primal (women’s masters).
