Buzz Bullets vs. Revolver – ECC 2011

Revolver came out firing, and road a 5-2 lead to victory over the Buzz Bullets. Early on, everything was working for the boys from San Fransisco while the hucks were too floaty for the Japanese National Team. Early on, Matsuno missed on deep connections, cutting in and no look hucking it deep. Other times the Buzz Bullets were floating their deep passes giving the likes of Mac Taylor the chance to get the D. With the height disadvantage, the smaller Japanese players were forced to go up early for 50/50s and ended up misreading the majority of discs.

Towards the end of the half, Revolver failed to capitalize on some beak opportunities with missed connections and errant throws. Instead of being up 8-2 at half, the score was now 8-5 with San Fransisco pulling. The Buzz Bullets clearly adjusted in the second half, working the disc underneath, being patient with dump swings. Towards the end zone, quick give and goes worked, as they usually followed a break throw with another receiver waiting for the disc. Matsuno was almost always ready for it, and had quick dishes for scores. Revolver continued to have errors,  while Japan was able to get the layout blocks on some standstill cutters.

The Buzz Bullets would get as close as 9-8, 12-11, before Revolver pulled away. The height and deep game of Revolver was the difference as they rattled off the last few points to go away 15-11. Josh Wiseman was able to get open in important situations, and Beau, as always made his presence known in the end zone.

The Buzz Bullets are now down two games, losing to Truck and Revolver. With the tournament relying on winning percentage to get into the championship bracket, the team from Japan will have to rattle off some victories tomorrow to have a shot at the title. Revolver certainly has yet to play their best game, but none the less came away with the victory.
