From a continually rising Italian ultimate program, CUSBologna boasts itself as one of the youngest teams in the European womens ultimate scene. With many junior and and national players Bologona brings vigor and athleticism to every point of every game. Seven players on the roster brought home the goal medal from the 2011 European Youth Ultimate Championships (Silvia Borghi, Mara Caliendo, Federica Ciprani, Cecilia Scagliarini, Irene Scazzieri, Francesca Sorrenti and Eva Tondini) with the Italian junior national team. These young ladies are no stranger to big games and hard competition.
Adding to the junior base of talent is Alba Kellezi (one of Italy’s finest handlers) and Laura Farolfi who is one of the strongest defenders in Italy. Farolfi, Kellezi and Sorrenti also won the bronze medal in Maribor (EUC 2011) with the Italian national team.
Facing a wide open field and many brand new opponents this young team looks forward to the change to prove themselves among the established players of Europe. Team spokesperson Mara Caliendo finishes, “we are able to face the strongest teams: we can’t wait to play on the Windmill Windup fields!”
