The monsoon will be active and India’s garden city, Bangalore is fresh and green. Across the world, while millions of sports enthusiasts will be talking about The Olympics and Wimbledon, a small but rapidly growing community of ultimate players will be cleating up to play in one of India’s biggest Ultimate tournaments – Bangalore Ultimate Open (BUO).
BUO 2012, scheduled for Jul 6th, 7th and 8th will feature about 28 teams from across India playing at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore. Over 3 days, about 100 mixed gender games (5:2) will be played from dawn till late evening (under flood lights) making this the biggest tournament in India till date.
BUO, originally called Sakkath (meaning awesome/cool) started in 2008. While the 2008 edition featured 4 teams from 2 cities, over the years BUO has grown to be one of the major ultimate tournaments in India, with teams bringing in their best squads in a bid to be crowned as champions.
While July is generally a great time to visit Bangalore, if you are an ultimate player, you now have more reasons to be here. Having an experienced Ultimate player (Ultimate in India is about 5 years old) talk to us, do a workshop or just play with us would help improve the level of our game. http://www.bangaloreultimate.
