Pres Day Qualifier 2011 – Women’s Recap

Pres Day Qualifier participants enjoyed beautiful weather and fans from home were able to follow the action as TDs Jane Griffin and Natalie Halstead provided round-by-round score reporting.  After a last minute drop, UCSD Psychos filled the last spot to round out Saturday pool play, but did not participate on Sunday in order to give teams a fair chance at qualifying for Pres Day.  Humboldt State, Cal Poly SLO, and Occidental won the other three pools on Saturday, with Humboldt upsetting Claremont 13-10 to win Pool B.  Sunday’s bracket featured Humboldt posting solid wins over Stanford B, Occidental, and Cal Poly SLO en route to winning the tournament.  The finals game was a tight match-up between the Humboldt and Cal Poly SLO. The Hags took an early lead, then SLO Motion started making a comeback after half, but ended coming up short as Humboldt took the win. The Hags will now receive a free bid to the Presidents’ Day Invitational in two weekends.
