Windmill Windup will see a number of returning teams, but only a few of these teams’ roots run as deep as those of Hot Beaches.

This competitive group of women from Prague have competed in the very first Windmill Windup in 2005 and have returned every year since. Their perennial attendance finally paid off in 2009 when Hot Beaches took first place. Although they haven’t been to the finals since, they have continued to play in Windmill Windup every year.

These Czech  girls formed Hot Beaches in 2003 to play in the Central League, as well as international tournaments like Paganello, WUC, Windmill Windup, and Tom’s Tourney. In their history they have had a number of successful tournaments and finals appearances across Europe, including a second place finish at Tom’s Tourney in 2010 and a third place finish at Paganello the same year. Most impressive is their results in the 2010 European Ultimate Championship Finals, in which they took first place and took the European title.

Led by stand-out players Martina Hradecka, Leona Srbova, and Iva Klimentova, Hot Beaches prides itself on their dominant zone-D and deep handler rotation. They hope that these attributes will land them a top-four finish at this year’s Windup.

Regardless of their results, Hot Beaches always look forward to returning to their “beloved tournament.” They said they are excited for yet another tournament with great games and an excellent level of play in the beautiful city of Amsterdam.
